Finally watched the Sailor Moon 20th Anniv Event on nico (via the lovely Miss Dream.
I haven’t been on Tumblr lately and haven’t seen the conversation about it but…
Did anyone else think that Komatsu Misaki — the actress playing Kunzite — was just…not…into it? From the moment she was shuffled onto stage to the very end, she seemed unsure and almost defensive about being cast in a male role. And then she was like “I suck at dealing with people” while grimacing and squirming throughout that whole interview.
I don’t know. I felt kind of sorry for her. It seemed like she didn’t really want to be there, for whatever reason.
On a light note, all the other actresses were so adorable and great. The costumes are a nice update for 2013 too.

It is decided! We’re putting together a 365-day Sailor Moon day planner/calendar! 365 days of beautiful pictures, inspirational quotes, and general fan-nerdom to make that To-Do list a little bit nicer.
Once we’ve got a template, I want to make it available online for anyone to download, customize, and/or sync up to their google calendars. Miss Dream Subs has wonderfully offered to help distribute it when it is ready!
But, uh, I can’t really do it alone. Who wants to help? Message me on tumblr if you want to be added to the google group or send me an email to sailormooncalendar[at]gmail. And if you don’t want to join directly, can you help by reposting this so other fans might hear about it?
—Can you help me fill out important dates? This would be character birthdays, important events within the show, commemorative notes on show airings and so on.
—Can you share your favorite quotes with me?
—Do you have fan art or artistic/editing skills?

Some excerpts from the Q & A were published here:
Kodansha Comics’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 was light on new manga license news, so the fan Q&A session skewed heavily toward the most popular, and possibly most talked-about title in the Kodansha Comics line-up, Sailor Moon.
Q: “Are you planning on re-releasing the Sailor Moon art books?”
Middaugh:"I can’t say a word about that."
Q: “Will you release the 20th anniversary editions of the Sailor Moon manga in the U.S.?”
Middaugh: "We don’t know. We just started releasing these new editions of Sailor Moon last year. We only got the news about these new editions this past Friday ourselves. We’re still taking it all in and figuring it out."
Middaugh also cleared up a few details about the upcoming anime remake. First, that Kotono Mitsuishi, the voice of Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon in the original Japanese anime series, had only said at the 20th Anniversary event that she’s very excited about the new show and she would love to do Usagi’s voice again, but he stressed that Mitsuishi has not been cast to reprise her role in this new series.
He also added that, at this time, it’s not clear how this new series will adapt the original Sailor Moon story, but that it’s likely that more details will emerge as the Summer 2013 release date approaches. "We’re the manga publisher, not the anime distributor, so we don’t know that much about the anime,” Middaugh added.
